245 FRANKLIN ST. TIFFIN, OHIO
I thought that some of you would be interested in this. I grew up in the house on 245 Franklin St. as some of you know. What many of you did not know is that house was once part of the house next door. the State Of Ohio Agricultural Repost of 1853 shows the house as one. It was at the time an orchard. I always wondered why there were so many different fruit trees in the yard and the neighbors yards too. It has been said that the house actually sat where N. Sandusky St. is today and it was moved to the Franklin St. location. Legend has it that two sisters owned it at one time and they divided it because they couldn't get along.
I cant remember where it said what year the house was built, but I remember weein the date in the fireplace. I think it said either 1851 or 52. Mary Lou Hill may know because at one time she and her son owned both houses. I had to do a lot of digging to find waht little information I do have. when I look at this drawing I can imagine walking up the alley in front of my house after coming home from downtown. Remember how mush we traveled the allys of Tiffin?
I realize this doesn't have anything to do with our High School, but one of the reasons I started this blog was for us to communicate and share photos and stories, not just luncheons and runions. If you are intimidated by the process of leaving a comment just email me at sarj@sarjbloom.com and I'll publish it for you. Send photos too. I will be glad to put them on here.
Here are some photos and other documents from my find.
